Our final Teacher of the Month for the 25-26 school year is Lori Korth! Mrs. Korth is a naturally gifted, resilient educator who has spent years masterfully adapting her instruction to meet her students' needs, most recently excelling as a remarkable first-grade teacher. Her ability to solve any challenge has deeply impacted countless lives, and she will be greatly missed upon her retirement!

More great RISE Results! Check out how much our current 5th graders have grown each year they have taken RISE Reading. This class had the unique challenge of overcoming the disruption to their education that Covid-19 had in their most important year of learning- Kindergarten. But our 5th graders are resilient and have grown so much since then! Great job to our students, our 5th-grade teachers, and all who have helped them along the way on their long Discovery Elementary journey. We can't wait to see how much higher they go as they enter ACYI and beyond!

May lunch menu and upcoming dates!

It's early in our end-of-year testing season, but we have some AMAZING early results. 3rd grade has wrapped up their RISE Reading tests, and they are shattering some records! This is 13% higher than our previous high in 3rd grade, going all the way back to 2019! Huge shoutout to our 3rd-grade students who have worked so hard this year, our stellar 3rd-grade team, our powerhouse paras, the K-2 teachers who helped build the foundation to get them here, and of course, our amazing parents!

The outstanding Rachel Reynolds is the Education Support Professional of the Month at Discovery Elementary!
Mrs. Reynolds has the biggest heart for kids. No only does she spend all day helping the students at Discovery, but she also volunteers her time as the Discovery School Community Council Chairperson, is a Girls Scouts leader, and advocates for students with state lawmakers. She is the hands-down winner of school spirit dress-up day costumes and has never backed down from a challenging job at school. Discovery is lucky to have her. Thanks Rachel!

Shout out to Karson Jensen (formerly Ms. Barker), our March Teacher of the Month! Mrs. Jensen is an outstanding 4th-grade teacher and leads our 4th-grade team exceptionally well. She brings so much enthusiasm for everything she teaches, whether it is a phonics lesson, Utah History, or science. Kids are excited to learn in her class. She cares deeply about each student individually, and in return, her students respect her and are always trying to make her proud. Discovery is a better place because of Mrs. Jensen!
